Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London, Ontario, Canada She was the daughter of Sandra Kay (Gale),
an RN, and Lance Frederick McAdams, a truck driver and furniture mover. Rachel
is of English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish descent. Rachel began her acting
career at the age of 13 and by 13 was appearing in Shakespearean productions at
summer theater camp. She later graduated with distinction with an honors BFA
degree in Theater at York University. After making her debut on the episode of Disney's
The Famous Jett Jackson (1998) She was a co-star in the Canadian TV series
Slings and Arrows (2003) A comedy-drama about the trials and travails of the
Shakespearean theater troupe, and was awarded an award called a Gemini award
for her performance in 2003.Her performance in the role of Regina George in the
hit comedy Mean Girls (2004) instantly brought her to the top of the list of
the most popular young actresses. The film was followed by an acclaimed
performance alongside Ryan Gosling in the adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks
bestseller The Notebook (2004), which was a huge box office hit and quickly
became the main romantic drama for a new, young generation of moviegoers.
McAdams met Gosling while filming. They were a couple until the middle of 2007.
McAdams then showed her range in the screen with the raunchy comedy Wedding
Crashers (2005), the thriller Red Eye (2005), and the holiday-themed drama The
Family Stone (2005).McAdams then went on to explore the world of independent
film with Married Life (2007), that debuted at the Toronto Film Festival and
also included Pierce Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. Following her
roles in The Lucky Ones, a military drama, State of Play, and The Time
Traveler's Wife (2009) McAdams starred alongside Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr.
in Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster Sherlock Holmes. McAdams played the
shrewd producer in Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's
materialistic fiancee in Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to
romantic drama in The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams is also a part of
Terrence Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well as Noomi Rapace plays Passion
(2012) in Brian De Palma's film thriller.
